What kind of experience do you have? All of us are lifetime musicians, and have played at almost every imaginable kind of function, from stadiums... to church... to barmitzvahs... to weddings... to small clubs. We're pros.
How far are you willing to travel for an engagement?
It
depends on how much you're willing to pay! We'll play anywhere if
we can recover our travel/time expense.
Do you play any beach music, Top 40 or country? No, this is a jazz/swing/standards group. Think Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Nat "King" Cole.
Are you loud? No.
How do you dress? We dress to fit the occasion. If it's an elegant occasion, we'll dress elegantly; if it's a pool party, we'll dress appropriately for that, too. We have (and will wear) formal attire. We want you to let us know what you expect, and there's a place in our contract for this info. We will look as good as we sound!
Do you have backup musicians? Yes. If someone gets sick and can't make a gig, we have numerous people on whom we can call. We've been doing this a long time, and have a lot of musical friends.
Have you made a CD? Yes- if you're interested in booking the band, email us for a free demo.
Where can I hear you? Most of our engagements are weddings or private functions, but we occasionally play at a public venue. Email us for a list of public dates.
How much do you charge? Our range is from $500-
$1800
depending on travel, length of engagement and the number of musicians
desired. We can work as a trio, quartet or quintet (with female
vocalist).
Do you use a written contract? Absolutely. It's the only way that we can all remember what we agreed to do and be certain of keeping our commitments to each other.
Will you "hold" dates? Here's how it
works: If
you think you're ready to book us, we'll need
a signed contract
with a deposit of 50% of the contract price, payable by cash or
cashier's check. This places the date on hold, up to a specified
date (usually 30 days before the engagement). During this "hold"
period, you can cancel the date and receive a full refund of your
deposit. If you have to cancel between the end of the "hold"
period and the performance date, you must forfeit your deposit.
The balance is payable by cash or cashier's check during or at the
conclusion of your engagement. Checks should be made payable to Rick
McDuffie.
